You probably can't think of any really slow reggae songs because you don't have any other speed to compare them to. They are all basically slow to mid-tempo. Reggae legend bob marley would have turned 75 on february 6 and his estate is marking that in a special way. An animated video of one of his most famous songs has been released. The new video for "redemption song" was posted on the marley75 site. French artists octave marsal and theo de gueltzl drew the visuals featured in the new video which help tell the song's story of emancipation.
Dub is a genre of electronic music that grew out of reggae in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and is commonly considered a subgenre, though it has developed to extend beyond the scope of reggae. The style consists predominantly of partly or completely instrumental remixes of existing recordings and is achieved by significantly manipulating and reshaping the recordings, usually through the removal of some or all of the vocals, emphasis of the rhythm section (the stripped-down drum-and-bass track is sometimes referred to as a riddim ), the application of studio effects such as echo and reverb , and the occasional dubbing of vocal or instrumental snippets from the original version or other works. It was an early form of popular electronic music.

Within the jumble of bob marley and the wailer’s discography (made studiedly amorphous by issues, reissues and tributary remakes of their albums), his valedictory ouvre, uprising, stands alone as the most poignantly aching cenotaph – perhaps because it was marley’s final testament to a spiritual awakening that had taken all of 35 years to come to fruition; a lucid goodbye to a world he saw as full of troubles. (lucid because bob marley who died in may 1981 of cancer, had initially learnt of the diagnosis in 1977. ) so what this means is that by the time he started recording uprising, bob was already walking through “the valley of the shadow ……. †which might explain the sobering somberness of the first batch of songs bob presented to chris blackwell. The other paradox of uprising is how bob’s ruminatively spiritual final testament, is also his most musically accessible and significant of a talent that clearly transcended reggae.
